When Crusoe arrived home he found that his mother and father was dead. But he did still have his plantation and some nephews to take care of. One of his nephews wanted to study law, the other wanted to be a sailor and travel the world. So another Crusoe was born and Robinson Crusoe got to go through 28 years on island as a Governor. Robinson Crusoe's journey takes place in the context of 17th-century European imperialism and colonialism, as different countries explored the Americas, establishing colonies and exploiting natives. More specifically, Defoe was likely inspired or influenced by the real-life adventures of Alexander Selkirk.
